Dr. Tamara G.J. Leech holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy from Princeton University, and an MA and PhD in Sociology with a specialization in stratification from the University of Michigan. Previously serving as the Director of the Survey Research Center at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Dr. Leech has held tenured professorships at both IUPUI and Montclair State University. With a deep expertise in mixed methods evaluation, she excels in gathering data from hard-to-reach populations and conducting action-based research.
The primary focus of Dr. Leech's work is addressing policies and practices that create underserved communities or contribute to inequitable treatment of populations. Throughout a distinguished career, she has completed significant research and evaluation projects for a diverse array of clients, including government agencies, large foundations, municipal governments, professional associations, and local community groups.
She is currently an Andrew Carnegie Foundation Fellow and sits on the Board of Directors for the Society for the Study of Social Problems.
